WSPBuilder and a clean build

One of the quirks I've run into while using WSPBuilder for my SharePoint projects is that occasionally a project will try and add SSOCLI.dll to the WSP.  Because this assembly is not strong named the creation of a SafeEntry will always fail.

This doesn't effect the package or deployment, but it does annoy someone who is particular like me ;)  I found an article that talks about an easy solution until the WSPBuilder gets updated to ignore non - strong named assemblies.

Just add the following snippet to the Post-Build event in your project, and it will delete the DLL and allow your WSP to be built without getting an error message from the SSOCLI.dll file because it's no longer there :)

del "$(TargetDir)ssocli.dll"

Public transportation in Puerto Rico

Is being a pain right now. The bus fare is only .50-.75 cents but the problem is the buses only take quarters, and it's nearly impossible to get change for the bus. We are going to see if we can get a pass to make it easier on us. Surprising that they don't take other coins or at least have coin machines around considering the number of routes they have. The one change machine we saw was shuttered so we couldn't use it.

We are off to Old San Juan tonight to eat and wander around some more. It's absolutely HUGE, and we can still feel it from the other day when we walked around.

First day in San Juan

Wow, this has been a LONG day. I slept on the first flight, then watched a movie on the final flight to San Juan.

The apartment senate renting is really nice, and the neighborhood is awesome, such a wide variety of architecture. The apartment owner and her cousin spent about 2 hours walking us around and showing us where everything is, and the best restaurants and bars. One unusual ting is the big party night is Wednesday instead of the weekend. We're looking forward to tomorrow night a lot :)

She also told us about a cool nat ire preserve where you can go for a tour and visit the area culminating in a chance to swim where the algae lights up all around you as you swim. Definitely going to be a must do.

Tomorrow we're going to probably go to Old San Juan and start making sone plans and reservations on what we'll be doing next. I'm also going to be doing be touristy thing and start taking pictures.

The unexpected joys of traveling

We started our vacation to San Juan Puerto Rico this morning by driving to Myrtle Beach to catch our first flight.

During our drive we saw some unusual sights, basically things we couldn't recognize as we were driving. We saw quite a few deer, and possum and one zombie devil dog ;)

When we checked in we found out that instead of being able to check our bags all the way through we would have to claim them and re-check them on Ft Lauderdale. Of course there is no wages would make our flight if we did that, so after a quick trip to the Walmart down the road we have duffle bags that are stuffed and e will be able to carry on with us on the plane.

The nice thing is we won't have to go through baggage claim to get our bags, we can go right to the apartment.

Time for some breakfast.

Firearms Training

I had the best experience ever tonight taking a class on proper shotgun use.  It's amazing all the wrong things I had learned, and how simple it is to use it correctly.  But, there's always a but though, I definitely am going to need to practice so I can not only become proficient, but gain confidence while handling my shotgun and do it safely.

I attended a class at http://www.calibers.net that was taught by (I hope I spell this correctly) Yousef Sansour http://www.sansourinternational.com

This class was simply put the best thing I ever did since I got my shotgun.  It was really great how he listened to what skill level we were, and asking what we wanted to get out of the class because he then tailored it to give us what we asked for.

I can't describe all the great things I learned, but I will say that after struggling to shoot only about 30 rounds through my shotgun things have changed for the better.  I literally couldn't hit the broadside of a barn for several reasons, but tonight I shot probably 60 rounds at ranges from 5 yards all the way out to 25 yards and I don't think I missed the target once.  A few times I did flinch or didn't line up correctly, but the majority of my shots went EXACTLY where I was expecting them to go.

The real clincher was at the very end we shot slugs at varying ranges 5, 10, and 25 yards, and I was able to keep them within a 12" box.

I also learned how much I need to practice the basic operation of my pump shotgun, until I can get to the point where I'm not having to think about the operations, they come instinctively.

I can't say enough good things about this class, it was almost like having a custom one on one instruction, and it's really taught me what I need to do next.

Astronomy night

Last night I spent some time startgazing since it was such a great night for it. Last time I had taken a few pictures of the moon using what's called the afocal method. Basically holding the camera over the eyepiece of the telescope and snapping pictures.

Tonight I had a new accessory I had machined on my CNC to holed the camera for me. It worked quite well and when I figured it to use the self timer to let the vibrations fade before the picture is taken I got some great shots.

I then decided to try and take a few pictures of some stars and constellations. Turns it the star I picked was not a star but a planet! At first I thought it was Saturn with the rings edge on, but when I looked at my star chart I realized it was actually Jupiter. I also was able to see two of it's moons, but I have no idea which ones they were :)

The pictures were fairly dim, but I know I'm going to try new mode on my camera I discovered. It basically takes pictures one after the other for about 30 seconds then merges them all into one enhanced picture. I also realized i had the Asa set to 400 instead of 100. I'll be able to give it a try again tonight at the FAS observation at Sci Works.
